Samuel L. Jackson reveals his ‘dream’ co-star in new action thriller ‘Hitman’s Bodyguard’

In his newest action comedy, Samuel L. Jackson promises a passionate on-screen romance with his “wife” Salma Hayek.

In The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) is charged with the task of protecting notorious hitman Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson) so he can make it in time from England to the Hague to testify in court. Along the way we are introduced to Kincaid’s wife, Sonia Kincaid (Salma Hayek). The on-screen couple sat down with Entertainment Studios’ Jon Kelley to discuss the film and their tender moments.

“Dreams do come true,” Jackson said. “I’ve known her, seen her, talked to her and just kind of engaged and hung out, and all of the sudden she can be your wife and you can actually be in love with her. I said, ‘This is going to be easy.'”

Hayek also had nothing but kind things to say about her illustrious co-star.

“When they told me I would be playing Sam’s wife, I was super excited,” She said. “I’m a big fan and we’re not onscreen a lot. That was the challenge for this relationship, because he is so big and explosive and vibrant. He doesn’t even need to be there. He is kind of there no matter what.”

The film is bound to be an action filled adventure, Salma Hayek even noted that when she and Jackson were onscreen together there was “literally fire.” However, there’s was not the only convincing onscreen relationship. According to Jackson, Ryan Reynolds was also able to bring his signature comedic charm.

“I’ve known Ryan for a while.” Jackson said. “Ryan’s got this great sense of humor, in kind of an irreverent way.”

The Hitman’s Bodyguard hits theaters on August 18th.
