We caught up with Russell Hornsby at the show’s red carpet premiere event in Beverly Hills this week and got his thoughts on the impactful series, which he hopes portrays, “the pain and the anguish that fathers live with in silence after losing one of their children.”

He’s also hoping the captivating series shakes the world out of their apathy.

“The countless deaths of young black men and women, I think as a country we have become numb to it. I really believe that Seven Seconds serves as a lightning rod to get people out of their malaise and feel again and feel uncomfortable because thats the reality of life and thats the reality of the days we are in,” he said.

The show’s creator and director, Veena Sud, revealed she was moved to tell this particular story by the current social climate. “I was an American citizen and seeing black men and children being shot to death by police, by people who our taxes pay to protect all of us,” she said. “I decided it was time for me to tell this story.”
