It’s finally here—the biggest event in Hollywood and we are here for all the beautiful, glorious, over-the-top fashion to hit the red carpet. This is #BlackExcellence at its best.

Here are some of our favorites:

Ava DuVernay

“A Wrinkle in Time,” “Selma” and “Middle of Nowhere” director, Ava DuVernay is stunning in a navy blue Armani Prive gown with structured shoulders and sequin detailing on her sheer sleeves.

Gabrielle Union 

Only Gabrielle Union can pull off comfortable and glamorous at the same time while wearing this peach, strapless gown at the 2018 Vanity Fair Oscar Party at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

Zendaya looks like a sweet treat at the 90th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood & Highland Center wearing this chocolate brown Giambattista Valli Couture chiffon goddess gown that is part of the label’s spring 2018 haute couture collection.

 

Common

The last time Common was nominated for an Oscar, he performed with John Legend and won. This year, he will perform the nominated song, “Stand Up for Something” with Andra Day. We hope lightening strikes twice.

Lupita Nyong’o continues to prove why black is beautiful. The “Black Panther” star arrives on the red carpet in a custom atelier Versace dress and handbag, Alexandre Birman heels and Niwaka jewelry.

Mahershala Ali

Last year’s Academy Award winner, Mahershala Ali, looks dapper in all black and will present at the 90th Annual Academy Awards.

For those who don’t know, Whoopi Goldberg is one of few entertainers who carry the title of EGOT, having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award throughout her career. She arrives for the 90th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood & Highland Center in a dress as bold as her personality.

Pretty HOT in pink. Viola Davis looks like a breath of fresh spring air as she arrives for the 90th Annual Academy Awards wearing a breathtaking neon pink dress and matching clutch with simple hoop earrings.

Mary J. Blige

We know our girl, Mary J. Blige had some issues in her personal life last year (we got our eye on you Kendu) but her professional life is soaring like crazy. Mary can officially add actress to her already impressive resume and is now being rewarded with an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in, “Mudbound.” Check her out in this beaded white Versace gown and Christian Louboutin heels.

 

 

Jordan Peele

Whether or not writer/director, Jordan Peele wins an Oscar tonight for Best Director or if “Get Out” wins for Best Picture, we believe it’s still one of the best films we’ve seen in a long time. Peele is looking on point in his white jacket tux as he attends the 90th Annual Academy Awards.

Betty Gabriel

We almost didn’t recognize “Get Out’s” Betty Gabriel who said wearing that awful wig was the hardest part of playing her role in the film. She looks amazing at the 90th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood & Highland Center.

Daniel Kaluuya

Daniel Kaluuya finally made it out of the sunken place and made it to the 90th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood & Highland Center. The star of “Get Out” and “Black Panther” is having an amazing year in his career and looks refined in warm golden tuxedo jacket. We love the touch of color on the red carpet.

 

 

Dee Rees and Sarah Broom

“Mudbound” director/screenwriter/executive producer Dee Rees and her wife, Sarah Broom are beautifully matched as they arrive for the 90th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood & Highland Center. Although Rees isn’t nominated for Best Director (we don’t understand how she didn’t make it in), “Mudbound” is nominated for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay tonight.
