Mysterious creature killed in rural Montana has wildlife experts shook

A man in rural Montana shot and killed a werewolf-life creature, but a photo of the mysterious animal is drawing attention and puzzling folks across the land. Why? Because no one know just what in the heck it is.

While the animal shares a wolf’s characteristics, its “ears are too big. The legs look a little short. The feet look a little small, and the coat looks weird. There’s just something off about it,” officials said.

In an official press release issued by Montana Fish, Wildfire and Parks, they confirmed that a rancher called and originally reported shooting a wolf after it tried eating his livestock. Part of the statement read: “The animal was a young, non-lactating female and a canid, a member of the dog family, which includes dogs, foxes, coyotes and wolves.”

Officials are saying that it might take several weeks or months to extract DNA and accurately identify the creature.

“We have no idea what this was until we get a DNA report back,” Bruce Auchl of Montana Fish, Wildfire and Parks told the Great Falls Tribune. “It was near a rancher’s place, it was shot, and our game wardens went to investigate. The whole animal was sent to our lab in Bozeman. That’s the last I ever heard of it.”

But, of course, that didn’t stop people from making their own wild—pun intended— guesses.

Twitter user @ndakkyle wrote: “Pretty sure they shot a werewolf or Big Foot’s baby in Montana.”

Another Twitter user, @allthingshaunted wrote, “We hope they used a silver bullet. We’d hate to be there when it woke up! #werewolf.”

A silver bullet is the only weapon used to kill werewolves, according to folklore.
