Lupita Nyong’o is currently gracing the cover of Porter and opening up about her struggles in the industry.

The Oscar-winning actress revealed that her natural hair has prompted people to criticize her look and even cost her some gigs.

“My hair is something that, historically, has been shunned. I mean, how often do you hear ‘You can’t get a job with hair like that’?” she said.

“Natural, African, kinky hair — it’s often been painted as uncivilized or wild…Being featured on the cover of a magazine fulfills me as it is an opportunity to show other dark, kinky-haired people, and particularly our children, that they are beautiful just the way they are.”

It’s a good thing Hollywood isn’t only run by white folks anymore and folks like Jordan Peele have no problem with Nyongo’s natural hair.

According to reports, she’s set to star in his upcoming film, Us alongside her Black Panther costar, Winston Duke and we can’t wait.

The film is the first project under Peele’s first-look deal with Universal Pictures, which he signed along with his Monkeypaw Productions last year. So far, there aren’t many details available about the film’s plot but it’s rumored to be a horror flick that follows up his ultra-successful, award-winning film, Get Out.

We can’t help but hope that Peele finds a way to reunite a few more members of Black Panther for the flick that’s due out on March 15, 2019. In any case, we’re just looking forward to Jordan Peele’s next offering and by the looks of the cast, we’re in for another winner.
