Kim Kardashian sues fashion brand for copying her outfits, accuses them of knocking off her style

The socialite and fashion entrepreneur, no stranger to similar allegations, says the retailer is using her likeness for profit

For Kim Kardashian imitation is not necessarily the highest form of flattery and is suing a fashion brand that she alleges keeps stealing her styles.

Kardashian who has been accused of appropriating style from Black culture, has filed a lawsuit against online retailer Missguided USA, that she claims is knocking off her original outfits for profit, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“Missguided does not merely replicate the looks of these celebrities as seen on red carpets, in paparazzi photos, and in social media posts,” Kardashian’s attorney Michael Kump of Kinsella Weitzman wrote. “Missguided systematically uses the names and images of Kardashian and other celebrities to advertise and spark interest in its website and clothing.”

The replicas are sold on various websites with models who look eerily similar to Kardashian herself. For instance, Kump said that Kardashian posted a pic of herself in a gold cutoff dress on Instagram Feb. 8 with the caption: “Fast fashion brands, can you please wait until I wear this in real life before you knock it off?”

Within hours, it popped up on Missguided’s site and social media pages.

Teasing the reality star, the retailer wrote: “The devil works hard by Missguided works harder. @kimkardashian you’ve only got a few days before this drops […]”

Kardashian is suing the site for $10 million  for using her name and likeness to sell knockoff products. She’s also seeing an injunction to stop Missguided from infringing of her name and likeness in the future.

“It’s devastating to see these fashion companies rip off designs that have taken the blood, sweat and tears of true designers who have put their all into their own original ideas,” Kardashian  tweeted. “I’ve watched these companies profit off my husband’s work for years and now that it’s also affecting designers who have been so generous to give me access to their beautiful works, I can no longer sit silent.”

Just a few days ago, the clothing giant Fashion Nova was called out by Kardashian for duplicating a black Mugler dress she wore to the Hollywood Beauty Awards on Sunday.

Kardashian said she does not have a relationship with any of these brands.
