Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar blasts critics who slammed her for watered-down description of 911 attacks
A rift has emerged between Republican lawmaker Dan Crenshaw and Democrat Ilhan Omar over comments he feels reduces the 9/11 attacks to something trivial
Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw tore into freshman Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar for using what he calls a watered-down characterization of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Crenshaw was referring to Omar’s speech last month at a fundraiser for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, where she encouraged her other Muslims to ramp up their activism and to “make people uncomfortable,” The New York Post reported.
During the speech she mentioned the 9/11 attacks, in which 3,000 people where killed, but described the event in a way that Crenshaw believes diminished the impact.
“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” said Omar.
Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel joined Crenshaw in his criticism of Omar and condemned the comments.
“Ilhan Omar isn’t just anti-Semitic — she’s anti-American. Nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives to Islamic terrorists on 9/11, yet Omar diminishes it as: ‘Some people did something.’ Democrat leaders need to condemn her brazen display of disrespect,” McDaniel wrote on Twitter.

“9/11 terrorists & the terror attacks they conducted are described as simply ‘some people did something’? Every Democrat should be asked by the media if they disavow @IlhanMN’s statements. Every one of them,” tweeted Andrew Pollack, father of a Parkland high school shooting victim.
Omar, however has hit back against the criticism from both “Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade and Rep. Crenshaw.
“This is dangerous incitement, given the death threats I face. I hope leaders of both parties will join me in condemning it,” she tweeted.

Omar has come under fire in recent months for other controversial comments that many felt were divisive.
Previously she was accused of ‘anti-Semitic tropes’ for implying that money is the root of what influences America’s foreign policy toward Israel.
Her comments incensed Congress members and a resolution was passed condemning anti-Semitism and bigotry.
