According to a university spokesperson, Janice Palmer, the racist slurs were plastered across the outside wall where the student center was located and on a wall of the Welte Parking Garage, The New Britain-Herald reports.
On Sunday, a school employee took notice of the hateful words and notified school officials. Within the hour, a team was on hand to scrub the area containing the writing clean with a chemical treatment. A second treatment was applied on Monday to remove the remnants of the racist writing, Palmer added.
An investigation is underway to find the culprit who defaced the property, Palmer said. While there are surveillance camera on campus, none where pointed at the place that was spray painted with the racist graffiti. But Palmer said there are cameras all over the school and there could be clues that lead investigators to the suspect.

“We must stand together to demonstrate that this behavior will not be tolerated on our campus, and I commit to leading this charge,” said CCSU President Zulma Toro in a message to the campus community.
“We encourage you to report to CCSU Police all incidents of hate – verbal, written, or otherwise – that you see on our campus. I assure you that each incident will be fully investigated. We will continue to strive to make Central a safe and welcoming place for all members of our family.”
Palmer said she’s unsure of what prompted the hateful language since there hasn’t been an incident like this in years.
Student Sydney Johnson said she was unsettled by the writing.
“I was pretty upset,” Johnson told WFSB.
“It’s being covered up isn’t enough because that just tells people you can do this we’ll just cover it up and then move past it. There needs to be a conversation about this,” said Johnson.

“It’s kind of ignorant especially in 2019. We should all know better than to put racial slurs into buildings,” Ricky Martinez, a student, told the outlet.
Another student was equally enraged.
“I don’t know why someone would do that. There’s cameras everywhere as you can see there, there everywhere. I don’t know who would have the bright idea to do something like that,” said Zachary Cote, a student.
