Dear Grio Fam,
Happy Tuesday. We hope your August is allowing time for some final summer family trips, perhaps to the beach, before those last-minute family trips to the store for back-to-school shopping. It is, after all, that time of the year again. Before we get there, here are a few stories to keep you entertained..

For those that are able, the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival recently wrapped and concluded with an amazing guest for all in attendance as Michelle Obama pulled up for a live taping of her popular podcast show, “IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson” featuring guest Natasha Rothwell. For many, Martha’s Vineyard is an annual tentpole trip and for the rest of us, we are trying to figure out how and when everybody and their mother made Martha’s Vineyard a summer vacay spot. As the Internet likes to say, #IYKYK.

For those interested in a little television entertainment, season 3 of “The Gilded Age” wrapped and we had to cover it since it’s what everybody’s been talking about since it was revealed that the season was going to focus on the Black bourgeoisie. Please go check out that analysis of the finale.

Make sure you check out all that we cover at theGrio, when it comes to entertainment, lifestyle, politics and Black life in general. We make it our goal to ensure that we cover the stories that matter to Black America while ensuring that we provide some joy where necessary because some days look dark, but there’s light at the end of every tunnel.

So please subscribe to theGrio, read and comment and check us out on social media where you can follow, like and comment on stories and a curated list of interesting looks into the Black experience. The opportunity to tell Black stories is why we do what we do.

Best,
