Bishop Eddie Long
Eddie Long has spent decades viciously attacking gays and this year he was accused by numerous young men in his congregation of using his power to coerce them into sex. The jury is still out on the case but Long is looking pretty sleazy.

Mel Gibson
Gibson has been dogged by anti-Semitism allegations ever since an anti-Jew tirade during a 2006 arrest. But this year audiotapes seemed to suggest Gibson has a penchant for women-beating and the n-word as well. Hollywood loves a comeback but some stars should just stay gone.

Montana Fishburne
This 19-year-old nearly torpedoed her famous father’s career with an ill-advised entrance into the porn industry. When she claimed she’d been dreaming of getting into the business since her early teens we could only shake our heads in disbelief.

Alvin Greene
Alvin Greene’s inept and bumbling candidacy in the South Carolina Senate race was a disgrace. He was incoherent, egocentric and allegedly perverted. His response to a resounding defeat? He’s floated the idea of a presidential run in his future.

Lindsay Lohan
This trouble starlet was in and out rehab and jail all year and just when she was about to make yet another “comeback” she was accused of assaulting a staff member at the Betty Ford clinic. Why does our nation’s legal system keep giving her second chances?

“The Decision”
We love LeBron but we hated his “decision” — not to leave Cleveland necessarily, but to do so in such a self-serving and grandiose manner. Even though the proceeds went to charity, LeBron spent most of the year trying to make up for this public relations debacle.

The Tea Party
The most nauseatingly over-reported story of the 2010 election cycle had to be the emergence of the Tea Party. This government hating and some argued racist, fringe group excited the GOP base but also helped nominate some fatally flawed candidates.

Gov. Jan Brewer
The conservative Arizona governor’s draconian anti-immigration bill caused a national firestorm and her painfully bad debate performance made her a laughingstock. Yet somehow she won re-election in a landslide. Only in Arizona.

Alveda King
MLK’s niece had already trashed the legacy of her beloved uncle with her homophobic rants but her most unforgivable move was her decision to legitimize Glenn Beck’s bizarre circus on Lincoln Memorial which coincided with the anniversary of her Dr. King’s ‘63 March on Washingon.

Terry Jones
This fundamentalist wacko with a tiny congregation briefly held the country hostage when he threatened to burn korans on the anniversary of 9/11. After being condemned by everyone (including Sarah Palin) he finally relented. Sadly, the facial hair remained.

Virginia Thomas
This year Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife “Ginni” inexplicably decided to re-open the old wounds of the Anita Hill scandal when she left Hill an ominous voicemail requesting her “apology.” Little did she know that in the court of public opinion she and her husband were deemed the losers.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Dr. Laura’s n-word filled tirade directed at an innocent black caller was shockingly offensive, her self-pitying non-apology was worse and the fact that she will be returning to the airwaves is a sad testament to our declining media culture.

Antoine Dodson
We admit it, we found your YouTube meltdown hilarious at first but then you started performing it over and over again — playing up the ignorance and making a fool of yourself and suddenly we just felt uncomfortable. Your 15 minutes have been stretched as thin as possible.

Brett Favre
Quite a few sports fans have grown tired of Brett Favre’s perpetual retirements and comebacks and he further tarnished his otherwise stellar NFL career this by year by getting involved in a prolonged and embarrassing texting scandal. America really didn’t need to see your 40-year-old alleged penis, shame on you Mr. Favre.

Andrew Breitbart
This right-wing activist aggressively spread misleading footage of experienced USDA employee Shirley Sherrod (in an effort to discredit the NAACP), costing her a job and briefly her reputation. When Breitbart was outed as the culprit — he tried to blame the media for listening to him and continued to accuse the NAACP of being racist.

Charlie Sheen
The highest paid actor on network television somehow managed to continue his career unscathed after calling a white woman the n-word for the second time this decade. Perhaps the third time will be the charm and he will finally be held accountable.

Albert Haynesworth
In a year where whining, disgruntled athletes dominated the headlines, few stars seemed as woefully lazy and selfish as Albert Haynesworth. The most memorable moment of his first (and likely last) year with the Washington Redskins was his refusal to get up off the ground to prevent yet another Michael Vick touchdown in a 59 to 28 shellacking from the Eagles.

Bethany Storro
Back in April, Bethany Storro joined a long line of white nutjobs who claimed to be assaulted by a black person (this time with acid) only to be revealed as the actual culprit.

Lawrence Taylor
His many years of run-ins with the law had already sullied this legendary retired NFL star’s reputation when he was arrested and accused of raping an underage prostitute. The jury’s still out on his guilt or innocence — but that creepy grin in his mug shot was unsettling to say the least.

Racist C-SPAN LadyUsually the morning call-in show on C-Span is the definition of dry. But then this fall a self-identified 90-year-old white woman called in and asked the black anchor: “I just wanted to ask the colored man, why don’t colored people instead of saying what we did to them, why don’t they say what we did for them? They talk about the slavery, but since then, they have been given welfare, free medicine, free everything.” Hmm…we don’t really have any words on this one since hers speak for themselves.](http://thegrio.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/showpicture-php2.png?w=450)

Usually at the end of the year pundits and public like to look back on the best pop culture, most important events and cherished memories from the past 12 months. But we at theGrio decided to explore a different take. These are the folks we’d prefer to forget. They made our year foul, frustrating and often downright offensive.
