PALM BEACH, Florida (AP) — A private funeral service is under way in South Florida for Clarence Clemons, longtime saxophonist in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.

The 69-year-old Clemons died Saturday of complications from a stroke. The service was being held Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Poinciana Chapel in Palm Beach. Faint strains of music could be heard outside the small gray church.

The Palm Beach Daily News says Springsteen was scheduled to deliver the eulogy. Jackson Browne and members of the E Street Band were also expected to attend and perform musical sections of the service with Springsteen.

A private reception was to follow.

The 6-foot-5-inch (1.95-meter) Clemons was known as the Big Man. He was a key member of the E Street Band since 1971 and performed with many other artists.
