Police have a “strong lead” in the case of a 6-year-old girl who was shot and killed while laying on the couch of her South Side home Sunday.

Arianna Gibson died in the 6 a.m. shooting in the 7400 block of South Sangamon Street and two other teens were wounded.

The Chicago Tribune reported that a 17-year-old male was picked up early Sunday morning in the South Shore neighborhood for questioning.

Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said the shots were fired from the outside the home and went through the living room window.

Arianna was struck in the chest and leg. She was pronounced dead about an hour later at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital.
