After 31 years of marriage, Beyoncé’s parents, Tina and Mathew Knowles are officially divorced.
The couple separated in early 2009 after Mathew, who managed Beyoncé’s career until earlier this year, confessed to fathering a love child.
Tina filed for divorce in November 2009, one month after Mathew was issued a paternity suit from Beyoncé’s former background dancer, Alexsandra Wright.
The original divorce filing was dropped In November 2010 after both Mathew and Tina failed to appear in court, however Tina filed a new divorce petition in August of this year.
According to the court documents obtained by TMZ, Tina says the marriage was “insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities”…which “prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”
The final decree of divorce was issued last month in a Texas court.
In March, Beyoncé fired her father as her manager, but insisted she still maintained a father-daughter relationship with him, despite her parents’ impending divorce.
“I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level,” Beyoncé said in a statement. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”
Mathew added, “Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success.”
There in no information yet on the details of Tina and Mathew’s divorce settlement.
