Chuck Baker is the founder and CEO of FileBlaze, a cloud file-sharing company he started last year that allows users to back up, send and receive an unlimited number of files instantly through a secure connection. FileBlaze currently gives each user up to 2G of free online space.

Baker used his 15 years of professional experience in corporate brand strategy, software and web development to create FileBlaze. In his role as CEO, Baker oversees a $2 million annual software development budget and manages 15 engineers.

FileBlaze is one of the few lucky start-ups to receive financial backing Angel investors.

Chuck Baker is making history… as a successful start-up entrepreneur through starting FileBlaze, which in addition to everyday users includes corporate clients such as NBC Universal, Roc Nation and MTV News.

What’s next for Chuck?

Baker continues to oversee FileBlaze, which operates from three countries, and continues to work on building the company’s brand. Last October, FileBlaze was the first to exclusively release a new single from Roc Nation artist Bridget Kelly. The release also highlighted the company’s debut of the “Blaze Page,” a customizable media folder to securely stream multimedia on a web page.
THE GRIO’S Q & A WITH CHUCK BAKER

Q: What’s next in this chapter of your life?

A: Providing as much support as possible – through volunteer work, financially and by making introductions – to up and coming entrepreneurs and independently minded people who have the courage to pursue their passion, even it that means helping them define what their true passion may be.

Q: What’s a fact about you that many people don’t know?

A: I have a wonderful teenage daughter, Alyssa, who lives in Cincinnati.

Q: What’s your favorite quote?

A: Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds. – Shakespeare

Q: Where do you get your inspiration?

A: To those that sacrificed their lives so that I could live a better one: JFK,
Martin Luther King, Jr., Ghandi and Malcolm X.

-Channing Johnson, Esq.
-Emmit McHenry (founder of Network Solutions)

-Charlie Stettler (Producer)

Q: What advice would you give to anyone who wants to achieve his or her
dreams?

A: Take action now! Satisfy that craving through reading, speaking, living,
breathing and acting out any aspect of that dream everyday. Even the
smallest activity matters. Anytime of day or night. Don’t let friends or
family members distract you. Stay focused! This could me reading the
Politics section of the Grio if you want to run for office; volunteering for the
MIT Urban Labs if you want to learn how to be a tech-savvy community
organizer; learning how to code in HTML5 at night to learn how to build
your first website; or performing any activity that gains you knowledge and
experience in the field that you have chosen to pursue. It’s all about taking
action now.
