DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit dad who pleaded with the public to find his missing 2-year-old daughter has been charged with her murder.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced charges Wednesday against D’Andre Jones. He insists his daughter, Bianca Jones, was abducted during a carjacking on Dec. 2.

Lane says he was carjacked while his daughter was secured in a child seat. The car was found but not Bianca.

Lane has stuck to that story and denied wrongdoing, although police expressed doubt just days after he reported her missing. Volunteers have searched the city for any sign of the girl.

Lane is in the Oakland County jail in an unrelated matter. His lawyer did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
