After making headlines with his YouTube video in support of Chick-fil-A, viral video ‘star’ Antoine Dodson decided to attend the food chain’s Appreciation Day. The event encouraged Chick-fil-A customers to show their support after the fast-food chain received backlash following its president Dan Cathy’s comments in opposition to same-sex marriage. Dodson says he showed up to show support for the employees and for a spicy chicken sandwich. AL.com reports:

Huntsville YouTube sensation Antoine Dodson is gay, and today he wanted a spicy chicken sandwich for lunch.

As for wading through the crowd at the Chick-fil-A on Whitesburg Drive supporting the company’s opposition to gay marriage, Dodson says, “That’s what freedom is.”

“We don’t all have to believe in the same things,” Dodson said this afternoon. “We all have our different beliefs and can still come together and still be friends and be cool with each other.”

The crowd was buying meals to show their support for the company that's currently embroiled in a controversy over same-sex marriage. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Baptist minister, declared Wednesday national "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day."
