Rachel Jeantel has some choice words for Lolo Jones.
TheGrio sat down with Jeantel, the 19-year-old friend of Trayvon Martin, who testified in the second degree murder trial of George Zimmerman about her conversation with her friend on the phone, in the minutes before he was shot to death.
Zimmerman was found “not guilty” of second degree murder and manslaughter by a Sanford, Florida jury on Saturday.
Following her two days of testimony, Jeantel was subjected to ridicule online, including by Olympic athlete Lolo Jones, who compared her to the Tyler Perry character Madea.
theGrio: In defense of Rachel Jeantel
On Tuesday, Jeantel responded to Jones, saying she takes any comparison to Tyler Perry’s character as a compliment, and calling Jones “a joke to me, and a hater.”
Lolo Jones hasn’t spoken publicly about the backlash to her tweet mocking Jenteal, which was deleted shortly after it was posted. TheGrio reached out to Jones’ representatives for comment but have yet to get a response.
