Shaquille O’Neal is featured in a new political campaign ad calling on New Jersey residents to re-elect governor Chris Christie next week.
In a 30-second-long clip, the legendary athlete touts Christie’s efforts in improving the state’s unemployment rate and education system.
“I don’t endorse many politicians. But Chris Christie is different,” O’Neal says in the ad. “He’s working with me to bring jobs back to our cities and on a new program to help kids in tough neighborhoods get ahead.”
According to the latest polls, Christie is in the lead against Democrat  Barbara Buono – and with a little push from the basketball great, Christie hopes to take the majority of the votes when they are cast on Nov. 5.
O’Neal, who is a Newark native, has previously worked with Christie to launch a statewide initiative that will provide schools with after-school funding. The program, called “Just Play,” will help promote more activities kids can participate in following school hours, reports The Daily Record.
“He’s a good man. Excuse me, he’s a great man,” O’Neal goes on to say in the ad. “Please join me in supporting Chris Christie – the governor.”
