It’s official: Kanye West’s new music video for “Bound 2” is a bomb.
The clip, which the “New Slaves” rapper previewed this week on Ellen, features startlingly weak production values (who knew green-screen was still poppin’?), copious amounts of Kim Kardashian topless (while Kanye remains totally clothed), some TMI simulated sex and endless shots of Kanye himself bobbing up and down on a stationary motorcycle.
Maybe Kanye is trying to pay homage to Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone” video, but the whole enterprise feels more like the King of Pop’s reviled collaboration with Eddie Murphy, “Watzupwitu.”
In case you haven’t already heard, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian recently got engaged and the hip-hop star’s indulgent preoccupation with her supposed perfection has become the subject of a Saturday Night Live parody and provoked a chorus of groans from music fans who wish West would return to his “Jesus Walks” glory days.
