The iconic rock star Prince is infamous for cracking down on illegal distribution of his music.

It’s not a coincidence that you can’t easily find his music videos on YouTube and now he’s cracking down on Facebook fans for distributing bootlegs of his work.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Purple One is suing a select group for $22 million (or $1 million per person) for “massive infringement and bootlegging of Prince’s material” that amounts to “up to thousands of separate acts of infringement and bootlegging.”

The lawsuit only names two defendants, but it suggests they are part of  an “interconnected network of bootleg distribution which is able to broadly disseminate unauthorized copies of Prince’s musical compositions and live performances.”
