First he was simply “KD.” Then sportswriters pushed the popular moniker “Slim Reaper.” Now, NBA superstar Kevin Durant is promoting his own nickname: “The Servant.”
“I like to serve everybody. My teammates. Ushers at the game. The fans,” Durant said recently, according to ESPN.
Although basketball fans had warmly embraced “Slim Reaper,” Durant rejected it. “I’m not here to be a guy of, I guess, death,” the Oklahoma City small forward told a local publication.
Durant is widely viewed as a shoo-in to win this year’s NBA MVP award. He has averaged over 30 points a game this season, which leads all other NBA scorers.
