Actor and director of Tammy Ben Falcone talked to theGrio.com about his directorial debut and potential future collaborations.

The plot of Tammy, in which a woman (Melissa McCarthy) whose life is in shambles decides to go on a road trip with her adventurous grandmother (Susan Sarandon), came to Falcone in a dream.

The comedian co-wrote the screenplay with his wife and star of the film, Melissa McCarthy. The two are seasoned improv veterans and have shared the big screen before in both The Heat and Bridesmaids.

Falcone said he hopes Tammy will size up to recent comedy hits like 22 Jump Street and Think Like A Man Too, both of which had successful box office openings.

When asked who he would like to work with in the future, the actor and director said funny man Kevin Hart.

Tammy opens in theaters Tuesday, July 2.
