Little Known Facts About Halle Berry

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Halle Berry is one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood. She makes more than $1,000,000 per movie, except for Monster’s Ball, for which she was only paid $700,000. What makes this Hollywood leading lady stand apart from the rest of the starlets? She represents and stands with the humanity that loves her every time she steps out her front door. Here are a few unknown facts about Ms. Berry, in her own words.

“I spent a lot of time with a crown on my head.”

Her first crown was bestowed upon her when she was crowned prom queen at her local high school. The second one was from Miss Teen All-American Pageant, in which she represented her home state of Ohio. After that, she was the first runner-up in the Miss U.S.A. Pageant in 1986, which leads me into a somewhat better known factoid about her life, her modeling career.

“While being called beautiful is extremely flattering, I would much rather be noticed for my work as an actress.”

She was one of the spokeswomen for Revlon cosmetics and has been on many “Top 100 sexiest/beautiful/authentic beauties” from FHM, VH1, People Magazine, and the Australian Empire Magazine. She started working as a model before she jumped over to becoming a movie star. She was a model as she worked her way through college, when she moved to Chicago, and even when she moved to New York. Speaking of New York, here’s another little known fact about her … when she moved to New York, she had very little success finding a job, ran out of money, and had to live in a homeless shelter.

“When I was a kid, my mother told me that if you could not be a good loser, then there’s no way you could be a good winner. And I hope to God I never see these people again”

For all the amazing movies that she’s done (Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and Monster’s Ball), she has also done some not so great movies, one of which earned her the Razzie Award for “Worst Actress of 2004”. She went to the “award” show and proudly proclaimed the above quote. Another little known fact? Halle Berry adopted one of the cats on set, and named him “Playdough” instead of the previous name, “Plato,” AND made $14,000,000. Not bad!

“The worst thing a man can ever do is kiss me on the first date.”

A lady simply needs to set her standards when choosing whom to go further with, and choose she did. She has had several relationships, from a dentist to a baseball player to a model to an actor. She was in a relationship in which she was beaten, and lost 80% of her hearing because of it. She has two children from the various relationships, a daughter named Nahla and a son named Maceo. She decided that she wanted to have children after the movie Things We Lost in the Fire.

“I thought I could tough it out, but I couldn’t have been more wrong”.

Halle Berry suffers from type 2 diabetes. “One day, I simply passed out, and I didn’t wake up for seven days, which is obviously very serious.” Now that she knows how to deal with her health problems, Ms. Berry has become outspoken about children getting what they need, so that they won’t come down with this horrible disease and go through the hardships that she went through.

Halle Berry is an amazing woman, with a lot of talent not yet explored, and her fans eagerly await the next steps she takes.
