You know how it goes: first comes love, then comes the sudden revelation of marriage and a baby on the way.

Ne-Yo shocked his Instagram followers recently with a posted picture of his girlfriend Crystal Renay and the word “surprise” that got everyone’s tongues wagging. A source confirmed to E! News that Crystal and Ne-Yo are, in fact, married and that they are expecting a child together.

Ne-Yo’s upbeat post received thousands of negative comments, prompting the singer to lash out at his followers and defend his right to happiness.

“The decisions I make are for me and mine. My kids are healthy, taken care of, and know what love is beyond a shadow of a doubt,” Ne-Yo wrote in the comment section of his post. “My money is right, my family is right FU*K ALL Y’ALL. I’M HAPPY. Anyone who disapproves can simply unfollow.”

As for Crystal, she recently posted an image of the two of them together with the caption, “Rest your soul chocolate, I’m watching over your heart now.”

This will be the third child for Ne-Yo, who has two children with Monyetta Shaw, 4-year-old daughter Madilyn Grace Smith and 3-year-old son Mason Evan Smith. Shaw, once Ne-Yo’s fiancée, dated the singer from 2009 to 2013 and even had her tubes burned after their two children because they had decided that they did not want any more children together. Of course, since their breakup, that now also sadly means that she is unable to start a family with her next relationship.

Ne-Yo had previously taken to Instagram to defend himself over past mistakes, saying, “I’ve made my apologies to the people I feel I wronged. I was forgiven by those people. Anybody else passing judgment on me for my past mistakes and immaturities is more than welcome to it.”
