'Love & Hip Hop' black gay couple sound off on homophobia in hip hop, defend their relationship

If you’ve been watching the latest installment of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, then you’re fully aware of this season’s breakout stars, Miles Brock and Milan Christopher.
The openly gay couple have created a whirlwind of press and publicity since the August announcement from VH1 that the rapper/songwriters would be joining the reality TV series.
Last night, Miles and Milan, alongside LHHH co-stars Ray J and Lil Fizz, joined a panel of pastors and religious experts to discuss the taboo topic of homosexuality in the black church as part of the Love & Hip Hop: Out in Hip Hop special.
The couple stopped by theGrio to talk about battling homophobia in hip hop and set the record straight on the validity of their relationship.
“When more people step up and basically be themselves, people will be more accepting,” Milan said. “I Â wish some of the rappers that I know for a fact that are homosexual would just be themselves. Because if the world knew, they would be like, ‘oh wow I have been loving this person for so long and they are so talented.'”
Miles, who recently ended his long-term relationship with his ex-friend Amber Laura, proudly defended his right to label himself as bisexual.
“Women can freely go back and forth,” Miles said. “The second a man crosses over, they feel like, ‘That’s it. You know, you need to choose one way.’ I was in a relationship with a woman for 10 years and now I’m in a relationship with Milan.”
The couple later defended their relationship against numerous rumors and reports that they staged their romance for the cameras.
