Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter on Donald Trump: ‘He’s an a**hole’

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter wasn’t mincing words when he tore into Donald Trump. He called Trump an “a**hole” and compared him to Adolph Hitler.

“He’s an a–hole,” Nutter said during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, where religious leaders were in attendance, reports NBC Philadelphia. “I apologize reverends, people of the religious community, I apologize. How can I take seriously any foreign policy idea from someone like him? It’s impossible. He has no idea what he’s talking about.”

The comments came in response to Trump’s proposal, which he put forward on Monday, that Muslims be blocked from entering the United States “until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses.”

Nutter, along with many on both the Republican and Democrat sides of the political spectrum, immediately condemned Trump’s plan. He called on Philadelphians not to discriminate against Muslims and then continued to take aim at the Republican presidential frontrunner.

“Donald Trump’s comments are a threat to the moral security of the United States of America,” Nutter said. “It engenders a level of fear mongering that we have not seen literally since the 1930s and 1940s. He has taken a page from the playbook of Hitler, demonize a group, blame that group for a country’s problems and then seek to ban or eliminate that group as some kind of solution to a problem that does not exist. This is in fact a very dangerous form of American radicalization.”

Trump responded to Nutter on Twitter – in typical Trump fashion:
