Zendaya is the new face of CoverGirl

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Zendaya is the new spokeswoman and face of CoverGirl.

On Wednesday, the singer teased the announcement on Instagram, saying, “Something new…something beautiful #ComingSoon…” Then, on Thursday, she officially posted her partnership with CoverGirl in a video on Instagram with the caption, “Meet your newest, easy…breezy beautiful…COVERGIRL.”

Also on Thursday, Zendaya spoke with Teen Vogue about her new role with CoverGirl, saying, “CoverGirl celebrates powerful, beautiful, and strong women of different races and ethnicities. It’s inspiring.”

She then went on to add, “I’m thrilled to be part of the diversity and expansion of beauty.”

As Zendaya has made waves over the past few months in the beauty world, her announcement almost comes as now surprise. In September, the singer was honored with a Barbie lookalike, and in October, she made headlines when she criticized Modeliste magazine for altering images of her in a photo shoot until those images were all removed or replaced.

As Zendaya continues to campaign for body positivity and diversity in an industry that often needs her good influence, we are excited to see what she can do with the influence and access that CoverGirl will grant her. One thing’s for sure: she’s going to be an amazing CoverGirl spokeswoman.
