An employee at a Virginia grocery store was typing up a lottery ticket for a customer when he accidentally made a mistake. He ended up buying the ticket that the customer didn’t want, and the typo ticket turned into a $7 million grand prize.
Michael Donnelly was surprised to find that the Cash4Life ticket he’d bought because of a typo turned out to be a winner, and he called his wife to give her the news. After hearing about the win, she replied, “If that’s true, you have to come home because I’m about to have a heart attack!”
Donnelly decided to take the lump-sum of $7 million rather than the payments of $1,000 per day for the rest of his life.
“It still hasn’t hit me yet,” Donnelly said.
