Alton Sterling’s son urges people to ‘protest in peace’
Cameron Sterling, the 15-year-old son of Alton Sterling, stood outside the place where his father was killed on Wednesday to urge protesters to “protest the right way.”
“I want everyone to protest the right way ― protest in peace,” Cameron said. “Not guns, not drugs, not alcohol, not violence.”
He went on to say that he and his father has a “best friend bond.” Asked what he would tell his father if he could, Cameron said, “I love you so much. I miss you a lot.”

“Everyone needs to be on one accord, not a different note,” Cameron said. “Everyone needs to be together, not apart. I truly feel that my father was a good man and he will always be a good man.”
This is the first time Cameron has addressed the public since his father was killed in a police shooting outside a convenience store. He appeared at his mother’s side during a press conference, at which time he wept uncontrollably, unable to contain his grief as his mother spoke about the loss that the family had endured.
Cameron’s plea for calm protest comes less than a week after five officers were killed in Dallas during a Black Lives Matter protest.
