Video of Wichita cop dancing with Black Lives Matter activists goes viral

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Wichita Police Officer Aaron Moses was at Sunday’s First Steps Community Cookout at McAdams Park, and while he was there, he ended up dancing his way into a viral hit.

In a 30-second video that started trending on Twitter on Monday, Moses can be seen getting down to the “Cha Cha Slide” along with a group of activists.

Moses was surprised by the reaction to the viral video and by his sudden fame, saying, “Someone approached me last night and told me I’m ‘Officer Brown with the get down’ is their name for me.”

But beyond learning some new dance moves, including the Whip and the Nae Nae, Moses said that he learned valuable lessons from the conversations with the activists at the cookout.

“I will never grow up and not know what it’s like to trust a police officer and I think once you realize that, its a pretty profound thing that affects the way you do everything,” he said.

“I will never know what it’s like to grow up in a minority community, but I can try my hardest to serve them the best I can,” Moses went on to say.

“If I need to dance a little goofy and do the “Cha Cha Slide” to help people see that I’m a real person that I do care and that I trust you, then that’s what I’m going to do,” he added. “Until we build an atmosphere of trust, care and compassion with the people we serve and those people accept that and trust in us, nothing is going to get better.”
