Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle MonĂ¡e are stunning on the new covers of Essence magazine!

The cover girls and stars of the upcoming film Hidden Figures are out of this world in their featured solo and group covers on the legacy glossy for black women, which hit newsstands Jan. 13.

In the February 2017 issue, the Hollywood actresses talk their latest project about the lives of real-life superwomen Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson — three brilliant African-American women who worked with NASA and served as the brains behind the operation that sent the first astronaut to space.

“When I was growing up, people told me out of their mouths math and science are for boys. I was told that over and over. Like, no one showed me how to fall in love with numbers. If I had a teacher like Mrs. Johnson, who knows, I might be on the moon,” Henson tells Essence.

Hidden Figures hits select theaters on Christmas Day and nationally on Jan. 6.
