Mindy Kaling agrees to dinner with Cory Booker over Twitter
A joke on Minday Kaling’s “The Mindy Project” led to a date between her and Senator Cory Booker.
On the show, her character made a joke after hearing that Booker was going to her colleague’s event, saying, “I guess anything to get out of Newark, huh?”

Booker then took to Twitter to say “ouch,” but maintained that he still loves her. Kaling responded that if her character “shades it,” “it means we know it’s cool.”
Booker responded by asking her to dinner in Newark, and she asked for a train schedule. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey happily provided her with one.
According to a spokesperson for Booker, the date has not yet been scheduled.
