ABC casts Trump supporter to date first black Bachelorette
Rachel Lindsay is the first black Bachelorette, but ABC is still clearly struggling to get on the diversity train, if its casting decisions are anything to go by.
HuffPost recently reported on 30-year-old Nashville singer Lee Garrett, a vocal Trump supporter whose Twitter profile is disturbing to say the least, even moreso when you know that he’s on a show trying to win the heart of a black woman.
Garrett once tweeted a comparison between the NAACP and the KKK, saying that the only difference between the two groups was that “one has the sense of shame to cover their racist a** faces.”

At another time, he tweeted about feminism, writing, “Guys…When is the last time YOU actually saw a pretty feminist?? There is a reason for this.”
He’s also been overtly Islamophobic: “I wholeheartedly support inhumane torture of terrorists…I don’t hate Muslims, I do hate Islam…The Orlando terrorist was a devout muslim and registered democrat.”
And compared the Black Lives Matter movement to terrorism: “Thousands sign petition to recognize #BlackLivesMatter as terrorist group after Dallas.”
The only question now is whether or not ABC cast him specifically to cause “drama” or if they really are that blind to how problematic casting Garrett truly is.
Gotta love how @BacheloretteABC casts Lee…wonder how @TheRachLindsay feels about it? #TheBachelorette pic.twitter.com/RX6lkGpgyB
