CNN segment about Charlottesville turns into on-air shouting match

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

On Monday morning, a CNN panel hosted by Kate Bouldan devolved into a shouting match between Bill Clinton aide Keith Boykin and Lou Gargiulo, a Trump campaign chair from New Hampshire.

The argument began when Boykin accused Donald Trump of appealing to “the base, racist and white supremacists” with his speech on Sunday in which he blamed “many sides” for the violence rather than coming out with a condemnation of neo-Nazis and white supremacy.

“How dare you call Trump supporters racist, sir,” Gargiulo shouted.

“Oh, my god. You stand-up here and defend Nazis. That shows you’re a racist.” Boykin shot back. “Don’t you dare tell me what I can call—”

But Gargiulo interrupted him by shouting over him repeatedly, “How dare you call Trump supporters — not all Trump supporters are racist!”

“Those who don’t stand-up and call out the racism coming from Trump and Steve Bannon and Stephon Miller in the White House — those people are racist and they need to be called out for it,” Boykin responded. “How dare you question me on that? You have a lot of nerve.”

“Yeah, it’s appalling that he would call Americans, Trump supporters racist,” Gargiulo said, as Bouldan repeated “guys, hang on, hang on,” trying to get control of the panel.

“Trump supporters are racist,” Boykin insisted. “If you don’t know that, you are exactly the problem, sir.”
