British rapper interrupts his own show to kick out ‘sexist’ fan

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

On October 8, British rapper Loyle Carner kicked a fan out of his concert for being sexist. According to witnesses, the male fan had yelled out “you have massive t*ts” to Elisa Imperilee who was opening for Loyle.

Loyle stepped in immediately with, “I’m sorry man, you’ve got to learn a lesson, my young man. Sorry.”

“You’ve got to go for being sexist. You’ve got to go.” The crowd cheered as the man was escorted out of the concert by security.

Then on Monday, he doubled down, tweeting, “That sh*t will not be tolerated at any show.

“He’s been banned from that venue, for life.” The tweet garnered thousands of likes and retweets with fans thanking him for stepping in.

Elisa thanked Loyle as well as the audience for their support on social media. On Instagram she wrote a statement about the burdens placed on women.

“The burden to call out and challenge discriminatory behaviour is nearly always placed on the person facing it and it’s completely unrealistic that they will always be in a position to,” she wrote.

“As support act I decided to not let it effect our performance or takeaway from the amazing opportunity by ignoring the comment. That’s why what @loylecarner did last night was so important. It sends a strong message that not only is sexist behaviour totally unacceptable but that all of us, including men and particularly those in a position of influence, have an important role to play in challenging and addressing sexism, prejudice and discrimination wherever we see it. The audience came together and collectively condemned the behaviour by identifying the man and I was very impressed with UEAs rigorous zero tolerance sexual harassment policy. It just goes to show how effective it can be when we all work together to challenge misogyny and discrimination in all it’s forms. ???.”
