Justin Timberlake is the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show this year, and Janet Jackson is open to performing with him if he wants to do so.

“The door is wide open,” a source close to Jackson told ET. “If Justin or his team did reach out, Janet would perform with him again in a minute.”

However, the source noted that Jackson has not been approached by Timberlake or his team.

When Timberlake was announced as the Super Bowl halftime performance, many people brought up the last Super Bowl appearance for him, in 2004, where the infamous “wardrobe malfunction” changed the face of television forever.

There was some backlash to the announcement, as it has long been rumored that Jackson is banned from the NFL. Many people saw Timberlake’s announced performance as a double standard, in which the white male involved in the incident was allowed to come back and the Black woman was punished.

However, the NFL has insisted that they do not have a ban in place against Jackson.

“There’s no ban,” a league spokesperson told ET on Monday. “We are not going to comment on any speculation regarding potential guests. There may be no guests. Along with Pepsi, we’re excited to have Justin Timberlake.”
