New Jersey police chief accused of racist abuse, allegedly said ‘n*ggers are like ISIS’
A former New Jersey police chief has been arrested on federal hate crimes and civil rights charges.
Frank Nucera Jr., the former chief of the Bordentown Township Police Department, was arrested on Monday. The charges against him were unsealed Tuesday and detail blatant racist abuse, including slamming an African-American teenager’s head into a metal door jamb.
Nucera is also accused of comparing Black people to ISIS, allegedly telling a subordinate officer of an African-American man he believed had slashed polic tires, “I wish that n‑‑‑‑‑ would come back from Trenton and give me a reason to put my hands on him, I’m tired of ’em. These n‑‑‑‑‑s are like ISIS, they have no value. They should line them all up and mow ’em down. I’d like to be on the firing squad, I could do it.”

The criminal complaint details a history of this kind of behavior, with Nucera frequently using racial slurs and supporting violence against minorities.
The 60-year-old former chief is also accused of using police dogs to intimidate African-Americans, in one instance bringing the dogs to a high school basketball gym while the police were providing security there.
According to federal authorities, Nucera retired from the force after New Jersey’s attorney general was informed of the investigation against him.
