Sony Pictures Entertainment said it will relocate a 1,150-square-foot double-decker trailer being used by Will Smith during filming of “Men in Black III” because of complaints in the Manhattan neighborhood where it is parked.
Residents and business owners in SoHo have said they are furious with the star’s monstrous mobile office parked in the middle of the trendy neighborhood where Smith is filming the sequel.
The luxury duplex apartment on wheels (22 wheels, in fact) is bigger than most two-bedroom apartments in the city. The monster truck, a creation of Anderson Mobile Estates, sells for nearly $2 million, reports The New York Post, and has enough room on the upper floor to host a meeting of 30 people.
Neighbors have complained about the eyesore — and the smell of burning gas used to power the massive machine. And store owners said it was hurting business on the block.
Sony said in a statement that the trailer has been used throughout New York City on various film shoots.
“And while its use has never been an issue before, we regret any inconvenience it may have caused,” the company said. “The trailer will be relocated to private property.”
