MSNBC’s Ed Schultz shares his point of view regarding the recent surge of racism on the talk show circuit. He even extended an invitation to Neal Boortz to join him on the show, to discuss Boortz’s recent tirade against Atlanta “thugs”. Schultz asks the Atlanta based talk show host for clarification on what a thug is, what one looks like and why promoting gun violence is ok when targeting a thug.
Boortz’s comments are not the only ones that have caused controversy. Fox News’ Eric Bolling asked his audience “What’s with all the hoods in the hizzouse?” This was in reference to Obama’s decision to host the rapper Common, and the president’s most recent conversation with Gabon dictator Ali Bongo. Bolling’s comments even caused a stir with other talk show hosts to speak out against the racist remarks. Bolling offered a short 14-second apology on his next show, and was not publicly reprimanded by Fox.
Fox News’ Glen Beck even chimed in this week with his remarks regarding the UN Small Arms Treaty, which he worries will make obtaining a gun very difficult. Beck closed out his commentary by talking about guns saying “Why would you get a gun,” he said, while pointing to the president, “to prepare for tough times.”
