LaTavia Roberson has remained quiet for more than a decade about her departure from Destiny’s Child, but now she’s finally breaking her silence.
In an interview with theGrio.com’s Chris Witherspoon, the Grammy-winner talks about joining the cast of TV One’s R&B Divas: Atlanta and reveals how Destiny’s Child came to be.
“At some point in time … especially out in California, there were looks at Beyoncé and I doing a duo. It was pretty cool. There are pictures that I’ve seen on Instagram of us doing the little video with us making these crazy faces and stuff like that.”
In 2000, LaTavia and fellow Destiny’s Child group member Letoya Luckett were replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin after a dispute with the group’s manager and Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles.
Fifteen years later, LaTavia says she has no regrets about leaving Destiny’s Child.
“Now that I’m older and now that I have my daughter, I look back and I believe that no matter how hard things have been for me over the past 10 years … I think that I was supposed to go through all of those things for a reason. As hard as it was, I wouldn’t change anything.”
She also set also sets the record straight on rumors that have surfaced that she bleaches her skin.
