Former Olympic runner Marion Jones has moved on with her life, after admitting to taking performance-enhancing drugs at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. She served a stint in jail, came out and announced she wanted to play basketball, and now she’s on the roster of WNBA team, with the Tulsa Shock.
Her teammates from the 2000 Olympics, however, haven’t moved on.
When Jones admitted to using drugs, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stripped her of her medals and stripped her teammates,’ who took part in the U.S. Women’s 4×400 Relay Team and 4×100 Relay Team, medals too.
Now those women have brought the case to the top-governing sports authority, the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), to see if they can get the IOC decision appealed.
Jones ran the 4×400 relay with Jearl Miles-Clark, Monique Hennagan, LaTasha Colander Clark and Andrea Anderson. She ran the 4×100 with Chryste Gaines, Torri Edwards, Nanceen Perry and Passion Richardson, although Perry is not participating in the appeal.
