Teenagers get into fatal car crash while on Facebook Live

Two teenagers were killed in Pennsylvania on Tuesday after a tractor trailer crashed into their vehicle. The entire accident was captured on video because the teens were streaming to Facebook Live at the moment of impact.

The teens have been identified as Miranda Hughes, 18 and 19-year-old Chaniya Morrison-Toomey. Hughes was driving slowly in the right lane of Interstate 380 near Tobyhanna just after midnight. The passenger is heard asking “are you gonna live?”

But before Hughes can reply there is a flash of light inside the car and the sound of screeching tires. Then the crash of the tractor-trailer plowing into the back of their car. Both girls were killed instantly.

The car flipped over a guard rail, landed in the middle of the highway and burst into flames. The teens bodies were so badly charred that they had to be identified through DNA. The totaled car may need to be brought to a nearby auto wrecker.

The car Hughes was driving had broken taillights. The person driving the tractor was not hurt in the accident and will not be charged.

The Facebook Live video is not seen to have been a factor in the crash.
