Lil Wayne pleads not guilty

Famed rapper Lil’ Wayne appeared at a pre-trial hearing in an Arizona court on June 23rd.

Wayne, whose given name is Dwayne Carter, is facing three counts of drug and weapons charges after his arrest in January 2009. Police claim they found cocaine, ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus. The self-proclaimed gangster has pleaded not guilty.

Earlier this year, Wayne was relieved of drug charges which stemmed from an incident in August 2006. This legal victory followed Wayne’s success at the Grammy Awards, where he won 4 awards including best rap album.

Wayne’s next hearing will take place on August 11, 2009.
