Jackson monument to be unveiled today

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A memorial for Michael Jackson is being unveiled in his hometown of Gary, Indiana today. This five-thousand pound stone tablet will be one of the centerpieces.

The eight-foot tall tablet was designed and created by a company in Richmond, Indiana, to celebrate the pop star’s life. The monument took 48 hours to complete, from design to finish; the company donated the stone, which would have cost $25,000.

Joe Jackson, Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will attend the memorial service at The Steel Yard, a baseball park a few miles from Jackson’s boyhood home.
