A burglary suspect shot by Baltimore police was pronounced dead. But he isn’t.

EMTs declared 51-year-old Michael Quarles dead after he was shot inside a convenience store early Saturday.

He then laid on the floor for about 30 minutes before officers realized he was still alive.

The EMTs who pronounced Quarles dead have been temporarily reassigned.

Quarles was shot in the head when police say he lunged at an officer with a “knife-like” object, which turned out to be a long screwdriver.

He’s in critical condition at a local hospital.
