The district attorney’s office in Jefferson, Texas has released dash cam video at the center of a police beating case.

The video was captured by an officer’s dashboard camera during an August, 2007 incident. It shows two Beaumont police officers stopping two suspects.

The suspect in the back has his hands on the trunk of a car when officers begin hitting him with a baton. He was not armed.

The officers have been indicted on one count each of official oppression.

An attorney for the officers say they used appropriate force to restrain an uncooperative suspect.

The Beaumont Police Officers Association says it “proudly stands behind” the officers. If convicted the officers face one year in jail and a fine up to $4,000.

They’re both on paid administrative leave.
