A late-night knock at the door almost cost a south Florida boy his life.
A home security camera was rolling as a woman and two men tried to kick in the door of the North Lauderdale home early Friday.
It all began when a woman knocked at the door, waking 12-year-old Richie Kittle.
She claimed to be his mother’s cousin, but he didn’t open the door.
He stepped away just as the two men stepped into view.
That may have saved his life.
Seconds later one of the men opened fire on the door.
The three people outside ran off after the shooting.
Investigators with the Broward sheriff’s office believe the three were there to rob the home.
