Seattle police have launched an internal investigation into the violent arrest of a suspect. The arrest was captured on surveillance video at one of the department’s evidence units.
Daniel Saunders, 46, is seen leaving the evidence room when three officers arrive to put him back under arrest. The video shows the officers punching him and trying to subdue him for two and a half minutes.
Police say the suspect tried grabbing a baton and TASER away from the officers, and also tried to attack them with a screwdriver.
The arrest came a day after the man was mistakenly released from jail.
The suspect was arrested in June for breaking into a church and spreading his hepatitis C infected blood throughout the building.
According to The Seattle Times, the suspect’s attorney is considering filing a civil-rights lawsuit against the officers, the prosecutor’s office and the judge responsible for releasing him from jail.
