Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A Texas couple is selling everything they own in an effort to help Haitian earthquake victims.

The earthquake in Haiti has given Orlando Alexis a second chance of sorts.

The last time Orlando saw his mother was more than 40 years ago.

“Basically she explained that for me to have a better life, she was going to allow me to go live with my father, who lived in Brooklyn, New York, at the time,” he explains.

They reunited by phone in 2006 and Orlando vowed to one day bring his mother to the states.

The earthquake struck before that could happen.

Orlando’s mother’s home collapsed.

She was able to escape the rubble, but was left with nothing.

Now Orlando and his wife are selling their two homes, and their businesses, with everything inside at auction to raise money to move to haiti to help.

“We started a foundation through our church group. That foundation is going to helping people in Haiti,” he says.

They won’t take much more than a backpack and their faith when they go.
