Firefighters tore through the floor of a Fort Myers, Florida home on Tuesday to rescue a dog trapped underneath.

“Heart breaking. He’s my kids’ animal,” said Regina Taylor.

“We talked about tunneling under the house, but this was just no room and it would have been a long process,” said Fort Myers Fire Department Captain Chuck Houser.

Firefighters ended up ripping up the floor of a closet right above the puppy, then crawled to his location.

After several hours, they succeeded in freeing the dog.

The black and white puppy’s name is Eight Ball.

He survived the rescue without a scratch.

“He’s playing like nothing happened. He went under there took a nap. Now he’s having a great time,” said Houser.
